At my place of employment, we were given “unlimited” Brainbench.com accounts; to be used for internal training and skills measurement. I’ve never heard anyone refer to brainbench with anything but sarcasm or uncontrolled laughter, but what the hell, it’s free to me right? I logged in and looked around their site for a while, I noticed they had some Apple OS X tests. Now anyone who knows me, knows I am a giant apple geek (no, not a fanboy), so I took every test that was available that was related to Apple. I ended up taking about three tests related to OS X and passing them at the “master” level. Then, just to really solidify my Apple geniusness I took the tests they had for System 8 and 9. Why the hell they even bothered with System 8/9 is beyond me .. but anyway.

I checked the mail today, and to my surprise there was a large envelope from Brainbench. I didn’t remember asking them to send me anything .. *evil mean thoughts*. I opened it up anyway, thankfully there was no spam or anthrax spores ..

wife: What the hell are we watching?
me:  Death  Hunt.
wife: What’s it about?
me: Charles Bronson.
wife: What a detailed and rivoting synopsis.
me: It’s got Charles Bronson in it, what more do you need to know?
wife: *sigh*

It’s labor day .. and here I am laboring away, alone. I’d love to be at home, in bed, dreaming of my own private island, filled with umbrella drinks and bikini women. Instead I’m sitting at my work desk clicking away like a mad man. I hope to have a nice quiet day and work on some of my own projects.

I need to get my mind into study mode, I heard a rumor come down the pipeline that my request for training is going to be approved. Which makes me excited as hell .. since this particular training/certification is important to me and right up my alley. It’s pretty damned expensive, but all online so I don’t have to be bothered with silly classrooms or travel. What is it you might ask? Well my request is for the Snort Certified Professional course. I have a feeling that I am going to have to study for this one … at least just a little. The online course material is broken up into two sections: Building and Operating Snort® v2.6.1.3 and Snort® Rules v2.6.1.3. The exam itself I linked earlier, it consists of 200 multiple choice questions, but it’s a lot like the cisco tests in that it dynamically builds itself based on what you get wrong .. so here’s to not being wrong! I’m a little nervous about it though, since I am asking the company to invest $2k into me for this, I better not disappoint.

Time to get to work .. hahahahahahaha .. yeah .. right. I kill myself sometimes. oh jeez that was a good one.

I’m back .. thats really all there is to be said. No grand story as to why my site went away or why i deleted everything, just felt like it. It’s mine and I will do with it as I please.

On to bigger and better things .. I’m pretty happy with my fancy new layout and I even made the header image myself, using Gimp! Soon I will have to post some screen shots of my other current project. I’m trying out OS X 9A527, I hope it’s going to be as kick ass as I think it’s going to be. Go leopard.. rawr.
